THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Preface
The first question that most people would ask concerning this "little thesis" is that many books have been written on this subject, so why add another one?
It is not my purpose to add to the plethora of existing works and theses on Eschatology, because one can argue till the cows come home concerning the merits of each school of thought. Neither is it my motive to write a scholarly exposition on Revelation or to discuss theology. My main concern is how the Church should view the end times; that the Church realises that we already are in the end times, and how we should live in the light of the urgency of the times. As can be seen, I plainly do not hold to the preterist or post-millenial viewpoint. I am not concerned about what man or tradition says about Escatology, but simply to put forth a practical Christian approach to the end times. Patient studying and waiting upon the Lord will reward itself by understanding vital issues and seeing it fall into place. It will be like the coming together of a great jig-saw puzzle. Without forcing the prophetic parts into preconceived or prejudiced ideas, thus distorting the picture, all will fall into place, bringing the Book of Revelation into sharper focus, and in effect the greater urgency of the task of preparing the Church to fulfill her role and task in the end times.
I in no way profess to have perfection of insight into all prophetic matters, for only the Lord has such. However, I send forth this thesis with prayerful trust that it will help the Church, and in particular the "everyday" Christian, to galvanize into action. If it does this in any small way then "this my joy will be fulfilled. If
Though I have said that I did not want to discuss theology, I have to present certain amounts of theology, eschatology and exposition of the prophetic books in order that what I put forth will be kept strictly Scriptural and in context with the message of the Bible. I hope the reader will bear with me as I discuss the Book of Revelation in these manner in the first part of this book.
